About

Sandra Mayo is an Argentinean mixed media artist and educator (Ed.M.) who lives in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Her work was shown at more than 100 venues, including the Argentinean Consulate in NYC, the Massachusetts State House, Boston Public Library, Monserrat School of Art, Brandeis University, Brown University, University Place Gallery, The VET’S Gallery, Chandler Gallery, Gallery 1581, Bromfield Gallery, Twist Gallery, Holzwasser Gallery and Attleboro Arts Museum among many others.

Sandra’s artwork has also appeared in various publications and was acquired by public, private and corporate collections in Argentina, Israel, Germany, Poland, France, Italy and the US. She also conducts workshops on genograms at community organizations and academic institutions.

Enabled by her background as educator and utilizing printmaking as her main tool, Sandra has developed a unique visual language using genograms to follow and probe the emotional history of families, including trauma and human rights abuses. Her art aims to provoke profound emotional and intellectual bonds with the viewer’s mind connecting them with current sociopolitical events. In 2022 her interactive exhibition Beyond Trauma; Roots and Routes was the recipient of the Leonard Bernstein Festival for the Creative Arts award at Brandeis University. In 2023 Sandra was the recipient of two Mass Cultural Council grants and the Art of Unity Creative Award by the International Human Rights Art Movement.
